Debra studied art at San Diego State College 1968-71 and the Minnesota School of Botanical Art, since 2002.  In addition to regular coursework in botanical art, she has studied with a number of Master artists.   Debra’s interest in plants, gardening and the natural world was one of the reasons she was interested in the coursework at the Minnesota School of Botanical Art.  The other was her love of realism in art.  It was her desire to be able to create that realism on paper.

Recently, Debra has been working with Dr. David McLaughlin, Curator of Fungi, Bell Museum, University. of Minnesota, to create illustrations of Minnesota mushrooms.  She has illustrated botanical subjects in graphite, watercolor, charcoal, carbon dust, pen and ink, and colored pencil. Please see below for a listing of exhibits where her work has been shown.
